Hey guys! So as a family day out, we recently visited the Great Yorkshire Maze which is located in Sherburn North Yorkshire. I have previously visited mazes like York Maze and Stockeld Park maze but I’ve never been to this particular one as it’s a new attraction this year. It was very covid safe with wide paths in the maze for social distancing, hand sanitizer stations dotted around and the practice of wiping down the rides that were located there after people had been on them. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it as a day out. The link to their website is here if you want to check it out. So here is my review of the Great Yorkshire maze!
The maze was probably about as tall as me (5ft 4″) and it was very vast with lots of different paths. I’m a fan of mazes – the harder they are the better! I really appreciated the wide paths for social distancing because it did make it a lot easier for everyone there. We managed to find all the 11 checkpoints in the maze in about an hour which was great. At each checkpoint, there was a different clue which referred to a person or place. You then had to take the first letter of each clue and arrange them in order to create a word. I won’t reveal the word in case any one wants to go but it was fun to collect the clues and bring them together to solve the mystery of what the word was!
After we’d finished the maze, we had a bit of lunch. We’d brought a picnic but you could buy food from there and there were plenty of picnic tables. We also ventured around the scarecrow maze which was designed for young kids. It was a one way system and lead you to different scarecrows that were hidden in there. Then, we explored the various rides that were there as well. I’m a big kid at heart so naturally I went on all the rides that were there. It cost one token to go on a ride and we’d been given 8 upon entering (there were two per person included in the ticket price). The rides that were there were the swings, the dodgems and the carousel. Then there was a hook a duck, leap frog and darts station too so there was quite a lot of variety. I think you had to pay extra for the hook a duck, leap frog and darts station. My favourite ride was definitely the swings!
Then we finished off our day with some yummy ice cream at Mr Moos Ice Cream Parlour. What a great end to a great day!
Thank you for reading this post! There’ll be another one out soon but until then bye for now!
