Reflecting on 2019!

Hey guys! Somehow another year has crept by and I’m here writing my third reflecting on the year post. 2019 has been yet another amazing year in so many ways and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Thank you so much for following my blog and for your continued support of my blog. I really do have the best followers ever and I’m very grateful for each and every one of you. Today’s post is going to be me sharing my stats for this year, my favourite blog posts and my personal highlights of 2019.

So my stats for 2019 aren’t quite as good as they were in 2018. I’m finishing the year with 6,995 views, 3,305 visitors, 1,469 likes and 902 comments. I’m a little bit disappointed but at least it gives me something to work on for 2020. My goal for next year is to increase my stats again like I did from 2017 to 2018 but try not obsess over my stats and just enjoy blogging for what it is. I feel like I’ve had a lot less time this year to worry about my stats which is positive but it’s also hindered me in my efforts to be as involved in the blogging community as I was in 2018. That’s another one of my goals for 2020 to be more involved in the blogging community but I do have my GCSEs to think about this year so I’m sure much of my time will be taken up with revising. I do genuinely love reading other people’s blogs though and I think it’s very important to support our fellow bloggers as much as possible. My top commentors overall are Hannah, Chloe, Azra, Charley and Caz. Thank you so much to these lovely people and to everyone who has liked, commented on and supported my blog this year. Your support means the world to me. So overall, I’m fairly happy with my stats but I feel there is room for improvement in 2020.

Well of course it has to be the Freedom Festival! The Freedom Festival is an annual event in Hull that has been happening for 12 years now. Amazing acts from all over the world perform in Hull over the first weekend of September and crowds of people flock into the city centre to see it. There is so much going on and I just love the atmosphere in the air as people wander around the streets of Hull enjoying the invasion of culture. I’m so glad that it’s an annual event as I love going to it every year and I can’t wait for Freedom Festival 2020!

It’s always so hard to narrow it down to just a few favourite posts because I genuinely love all my posts. But here are my favourites from this year:

‘Knife Angel’– An amazing piece of art work fashioned completely from knives which was designed to look like an angel visited Hull early this year. It fought against the increase in knife crimes and reminded people of the many victims of knife crime in this country alone. I loved it because it was raising awareness for such an important issue and it was just incredible to look at.

‘Birthday celebrations in York’– This year, to celebrate my 15th birthday, I was lucky enough to visit one of my favourite places ever, York! We had such a lovely day out and it’s nice to have a blog post that documents my birthday celebrations for this year.

‘AG Travel Diaries: Legoland’– I loved visiting Legoland for my grandad’s 70th birthday and it was lots of fun to write a blog post all about it as well.

‘AG Interviews: Kofi Smiles, ‘Rachel Oyawale’ and ‘Andy Sanders’– I love interviewing people and I was lucky enough to interview these three really inspiring people this year! Thank you so much to Kofi, Rachel and Andy for allowing me to interview them (and to Richard Bloss for involving me in the interview with Rachel).

‘Flying with jet 2 airlines’ and ‘AG Travel Diaries: Spain’– I really enjoyed writing about my Spanish holiday and the memories that I made there. I was also lucky that our flight over to Spain was delayed so I took the opportunity to interview the Head air hostess on that flight. I was really inspired by her and got more of an insight into the life of an air hostess!

My collab with sophiemagsblog‘- this will always be a special post for me as it was my first ever collab! Thank you so much to Sophie for collabing with me – you’re the best! If any other bloggers want to collab with me, feel free to contact me as I would love to work with you!
‘AG Reads: The Kingdom Review’– my first proper book review! This is currently my favourite book and I really wanted to do it justice by writing a really good review and I think I achieved that. I loved analysing the characters, plot and themes of the book and I’m crossing my fingers that Jess Rothenburg writes a sequel or even a series linked to it!

2019 has been an amazing year. But what has made it amazing has been the people, the experiences and the memories. A massive thank you to my family, my best friends, my friends at school, dancing, church and in other places and anyone else who’s made this year what it is for me. I love you all lots and thank you for putting up with me all year. I have visited some incredible places this year, spent some quality time with people that I love and experienced so many different things. I have deepened my faith in the Lord and have grown as a Christian which is such a poignant thing for me. It hasn’t always been easy and I have struggled with feeling stressed and anxious about my upcoming GCSE exams which I will be taking in May and June of 2020. But I know with the people I have around me, I’ll somehow make it through and hopefully get some good results. I’m nervous and excited for what 2020 will bring and hopeful that it will be another good year.

My best friends – love these nutters!

My family!

My church youth group!

My dance fam!

Some of my other lovely friends!

Thank you for reading this post! There’ll be more coming next year but until then bye for now!
