Hey guys! I apologise again that I’ve not been very engaged in the blogging community recently – I will hopefully catch up on your blogs soon. Anyways, last week, I visited the Bonus Arena to see Olly Murs and he was amazing. I had the greatest time at the concert so I thought I’d sit down and write a post about my experience at the concert overall. So in today’s post, I’m going to describe the Olly Murs Concert and give you my opinions on different parts of it.
So I’m not going to lie I didn’t know all of Olly’s music until about a week before the concert. I obviously knew of his big hits but I wasn’t familiar with all the other songs that were on his new album, celebrating 10 years in the music industry. I can say with confidence that by the end of the Monday night before the concert I knew all the songs and was totally prepared for any song he may sing. I also rediscovered my love for his song ‘Up’ and I was really hoping he’d sing that in the concert.
So my mum met me from work and we had a lovely tea at Bert’s Pizzeria. We shared a delicious pizza with a BBQ sauce base and toppings of chicken, onion and peppers and an amazing garlic bread. Honestly, the garlic bread there leaves me speechless and I always really enjoy eating it.
After that, we walked across to the Bonus Arena and found our seats in there. Honestly, it was my first time there and I thought it was an awesome venue with an amazing atmosphere and great seating. I hope that I’ll be returning there very soon.
Rak Su appeared on stage first as they were supporting Olly Murs on tour. They delivered a great set with a mixture of cool, new songs and some of their best classics. I think that they have a brilliant presence on stage and wow can those boys dance! This was the second time I’d seen them perform while they were supporting another artist and I thought they presented us with a really amazing performance!
We waited for another half an hour after that before Olly Murs appeared on stage. His opening number was ‘Moves’, one of his more recent songs and the first half of his concert consisted of his newer songs. These included songs such as ‘Feel The Same’, ‘Maria’ and ‘Talking To Yourself’. He danced all around the stage and sang all the songs with incredible vocals. His stage presence was awesome and you could tell he was putting every ounce of energy he had into the concert. He had a mixture of flirty, fun moments and serious, sweet moments. Before singing ‘Talking To Yourself’, he explained that it was about his mental health and encouraged everyone to not be scared to talk about their mental health because they aren’t alone in it. This transitioned into him chatting with us about his 10 year music career and some pivotal moments during it for him. It felt very personal like he was just talking to you in your living room at home and I thought it was lovely that he made the effort to create a more personal experience for us all at the concert. I also thought it was great that he took the time to name each of the members in his band and thank them for working with him because it’s rare that people stop to appreciate others who help them out. After that, he started the second half of his concert which featured some of his biggest past hits such as ‘Dear Darlin’, ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ and ‘Kiss Me’. The best part of the concert for me though was when he and Katie, one of the singers from his band, sung ‘Up’ together. It was so beautiful to hear one of my favourite songs live and I could’ve listened to them sing it together all night.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at this concert and I’m so glad I got to see Olly Murs live because he was absolutely incredible!
Thank you for reading this post! Have you been to any concerts recently? Let me know in the comments section! There’ll be another post out soon but until then bye for now!
