‘Liquid Jade’ First impressions!

Hey guys! So last weekend, me and my best friend Lydia met up in Hull city centre for a little shopping spree since we’d not seen much of each other over the few weeks prior to that. We had a lovely catch up and bought some great items as well as trying a new cafe together. It was called ‘Liquid Jade’ and I’d heard of it before but I had no idea what it was like at all. It was chucking it down with rain as we rushed through to Zebedee’s Yard to uncover where ‘Liquid Jade’ was located. We wouldn’t have found it if Lydia hadn’t suggested that we venture through into another part of the yard so if you’re reading this Lydia, you’re an absolute star! We were both super excited to try this new cafe and it definitely lived up to our expectations! So in this post, I will grant you with my first impressions of ‘Liquid Jade’.

Stepping into the cafe, I instantly fell in love with the interior set up. White silky blinds were drawn across the windows with glowing fairy lights draped across the walls. A giant blackboard listed all the items on the menu while a mixture of black and white chairs were sat at different wooden tables that were scattered across the cafe. It had a cosy but elegant vibe which I loved.

Scanning across the menu, I was pleased with the wide selection of options they had. They offered things such as sandwiches and salads on their lunch menu and they had a vast range of drinks especially different teas. While they didn’t have loads of cakes, the ones they did have looked absolutely scrumptious. In the end, I decided to have a hazelnut hot chocolate accompanied by a slice of chocolate orange cake. The chocolate orange cake had an orange coloured sponge with dark chocolate icing coating it. Taking a bite of it, the contrasting tastes of sweet chocolate and zesty orange hit me and actually complimented each other really well. There was some kind of orange coulis that was drizzled through the cake to enforce the tangy flavour. I sipped my hazelnut hot chocolate next and a sweet, nutty flavour overwhelmed me. I’d requested to have marshmallows, flake and cream on top which I think helped with its overall awesome appearance. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and drink I had there.

I had a great visit to ‘Liquid Jade’! I will definitely be returning soon and I would totally recommend it.

Thank you for reading this post! There’ll be another post out soon but until then bye for now!

  1. The café looks really cute! I love the chalk on blackboard design of the menu as it makes the café look more traditional and sets it aside from the commercial cafes. How did the hot chocolate compare to that of a chain? xx
