Bert’s Pizzeria Review!!

Hey guys!! Recently, a new pizzeria called ‘Bert’s Pizzeria’ opened in the C4DI building near the Deep. They specialise in italian style pizzas and gelato which are some of my favourite foods and they have another restaurant out in Brandesburton. Me and my family have visited there quite a few times in the last few weeks for ice creams and we ate a delicious tea from there after the Freedom Festival 2018. Ever since it first opened, it’s been abuzz with lots of customers and it was particularly busy on the Freedom Festival weekend. So in today’s post, I’m going to review Bert’s Pizzeria and give you my honest opinion of the food that I’ve tried there.

A massive white ‘Bert’s’ sign on the outside of the building invites you into the restaurant. Both the interior and exterior are sleek and modern. Pushing open the double glass doors, there’s a selection of wooden tables and chairs stretched across the sleek wooden flooring of the restaurant which have a lovely view of the dock stage and the Deep. Off to the right, there’s an ice cream cabinet with a massive range of delicious ice creams.

We’ve visited Bert’s several times with the intention of only purchasing ice cream but after reporting for Pigzine on Saturday, we ate a meal out there. In terms of the menu, the Hull branch of Bert’s offers some starter options such as garlic bread, marinated olives and dough balls, then for main course there’s a selection of several different salads and pizzas. Their deserts centre around their delicious ice cream selections as you can eat just an ice cream on its own or there’s a choice of waffles, sundaes milkshakes or some classic desert options like brownie.

Out of the ice cream flavours, I’ve tasted snickers, strawberry cheesecake and mars bar. All three of these flavours were delicious and accurately represented their respected flavours in terms of the way they tasted. The ice cream itself was creamy and practically melted in your mouth and you get a fairly generous scoop. Their massive selection of ice creams means everyone will be able to select a flavour that they will like.

The pizza I selected was a number 5 with tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, green peppers, red onion and roquito peppers. All the toppings really complimented each other and the pizza was clearly of excellent quality. The roquito peppers added a tart but sweet taste with a slight touch of heat to the pizza but it was the pepperoni that stole the spice show and in my opinion, it was more spicy than the roquito peppers. Like with the ice cream flavours, they offer a range of pizzas to suit all different people and their unique preferences and tastes in food.
